Member Galleries - Semion Mirkin
Semion Mirkin was born in St. Petersburg, Russia, in 1939. It was there that Mirkin got his MFA at the Mukhina Academy of Applied Arts. He worked in a wide spectrum of mostly large-scale mediums as a commercial artist. His projects included interior design, murals, sculpture, and movie posters. Mirkin also taught at a local art college.
In 1979, Mirkin emigrated to New York City. There he retrained in the jewelry industry, and continued to work as a designer and model maker until he retired to the San Francisco Bay Area in 2003. Now he largely spends his time painting in his studio, and takes on private commissions for high-end custom jewelry. Semion Mirkin has exhibited all over Russia, in NYC, New Jersey, and California. Some of his pieces are on permanent display in public places. Mediums: oil, water color, acrylic, pen & ink, wood, metal, ceramic. Getting your work in the galleryIf you are a member of the Pinole Artisans and you want to see your artwork in this gallery, please drop off a cd for the webmaster at the Art Center with up to 30 jpg images. On the cd include a text document with a biographical statement or whatever statement you want to appear in your gallery. The photos should be no smaller than 650px x 650px at a resolution of at least 72ppi. If your files are larger I can resize them, but if they're smaller than this - they will not be usable. The file name for each photo should be the name of the piece as you want it to appear in your gallery. For example if the title of your piece is "Mice on a Block of Cheese" your file name should be "Mice on a Block of Cheese.jpg" (without the quotation marks). |
