Pinole Artisans

Basically I am self taught. I started drawing when I was very young got in trouble for drawing in my mom's catalogue. I would take clothes off the models and put clothes on the models that didn't have clothes on. No one realized I had talent. I was just a kid making marks. I tried getting into art classes in high school but was always put into craft classes. I did a lot of art for my kids for their projects in school. Then one year I got acrylics for my birthday, and that started the wonderful world of painting for me. From then on I was always painting - acrylics, oil and ink. I would paint on anything - wood, metal, cloth, rocks. I have painted murals. I helped paint the mural in Pinole on San Pablo by the bus stop. I Also worked on the murals for the Hercules library, they are beautiful. I have sold out of my house for many years. I got sick and didn't know if I was going to live or not. I gave away all my paint and a lot of my paintings. I had to start over with buying all new stuff (thank god). I belonged to El Cerrito art guild many years ago. I paint because I love it and its like breathing. I have to do it.
